Bitcoin is introduced as a crypto-commodity more than a crypto-currency, possibly the digital equivalent of gold. Scarce in the digital realm as nothing else before, it can be transferred but not duplicated, inflated, or manipulated. With a track record of amazing returns, bitcoin has of course experienced proportionate volatility risks; as a new asset class, it has a relevant role in portfolio diversification.
