The scientific activities led by Francesco Cataliotti and Filippo Caruso earn a second cover in Advanced Quantum Technologies magazine! While the first concerned an experimental work on Quantum Machine Learning conducted on three different experimental platforms in collaboration with Roma-Tre (https://doi.org/10.1002/qute.202270081), this time we are talking about a time reversal experiment (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/qute.202270123). The cover, by Ivana Mastroserio (Postdoctoral Researcher at LENS), shows a chain of clocks that run back in time according to the dynamics of a Bose Einstein Condensate (BEC) evolving on five atomic energy levels, depicted as colored clouds. The clock hands are guided by the optimal control technique to go directly back to the past, demonstrating that the undo of an operation is possible also in quantum regimes.
